update coming soon

I will hopefully be doing a big website change and making it easier for myself to post.  There will be a purely professional site on the front and a personal site behind via password access like now.  I will change providers as well, since I am dissatisfied with iPower.  They are constantly changing things and often have tech problems.  They are just too big.  They dont want me to post movies on my ftp either – these are not pirate movies – these are movies I shot and am working on.

So remember to log on to see the other posts that are private.  I will email everyone when the upgrades are done.

Like the title says… if you register on the site, you will recieve an email when there is a posting.  I will try to keep it to a minimum – but in the end I do not post that much.

If you have still not registered and are technologically challenged, lazy, scared, or have a broken keyboard… simply contact me in any way you can… email, phone, carrier pigeon, rock through window with note tied on, sky writing, laser messeges, tachionic pulses, morse code, telepathy, or even postal mail….

and ask me to do it for you… your wish is my command. (this time)

I am going to start registering some people without there permission soon… they can always log in and delete themselves… :-O

there is the possiblility of subscribers being able to contact other subscribers without knowing there emails if there was ever an interest in that function.  However there are currently 10 subscribers… :’(

Video files on this site

I just installed a plug in that should make this page load faster.  I get this page in 8 sec’s now.  I also heard from someone that the thought the video links were not working.  In fact they are!  they just take a good chunk of time to load – depending on the length of the clip.  So be patient it will comw as long as you have a quicktime plugin – or something that can read quicktime files.  Alternatively you can just right click on the link and choose to save the link as – and then download and watch when you want.  I highly recomend many of the clips – or I would not put them on in the first place.

happy viewing!

Sigg vs Klean Kanteen

A few of my friends who are doctors told me that more and more studies are coming out saying that drinking out of plastic is a bad idea.  So I am checking out a replacement to my dozen Nalgene bottles.  Coated food grade Aluminum (like soda cans) or food grade Stainless Steel 8/88…

I got Baptiste a couple of Klean Kanteen bottles with the nipple adapter. For myself I have a Sigg and a Klean Kanteen. The sigg is a very lightweight aluminum water bottle covered in a water based resin (since aluminum is not good for daily consumption). The KK bottle (i hate the stupid K thing…almost to the point of not buying it) is made of food grade 8/88 stainless steel with no coatings and I got the stainless steel lid. The Sigg has the impression of tasting better. The KK has the suggestion of a metal taste because your tongue touches metal when you drink from it. I say suggestion because if I leave the water in the bottle all day (even hot and cold multiple times) and pour it into a glass it has no metal taste. The KK is more thermic, the Sigg takes the temperature of the environment almost instantly. The Sigg is much better for style, the KK looks like a hiking canteen gone wrong. The KK is heavy, and the Sigg is lighter then air – it is the water in any case that has the weight. I think if Sigg would publish the composition of the water based resin I would leave the KK in the dust. They could do what Coca-Cola did in Britain and announce the ingredients and not the proportions (did you know that coke regular is 100% natural – no chemicals whatsoever; just spices, fruits, carbonated water…) Also Sigg should make some nipple adapter tops. The KK you can dish wash and sterilize, the Sigg you have to hand wash and put boiling water in it for 10 minutes to sterilize it (though I can imagine there is a better way – though I have not though of it yet). The Sigg is fine with carbonated beverages (though I would never put a carbonated beverage in it, for some reason the kk is not good with them. So there are give and takes on both. Also the screw tops are lame… get one that is just one turn to open. Otherwise good luck driving and getting some water.

: EDIT : update October 15, 2008

For the record, it seems I may be flip flopping on my decision. (I should move into politics)  After continueing to use my bottles the same sigg and clean canteen (yes I refuse to use the K) the clean canteen no longer has that nasty metal taste.  So it would seem that when you buy the canteen you should wash it a dozen or so times or let it sit for a while.  I did the blindfold test on Anne and she could not tell the difference anymore either.  So since sigg has the mystery lining and also got a dent or two in use… I find myself using the clean canteen more and more.  Too bad they are not more design oriented.  Now I just need to find a metal sport lid for the clean canteen.  I got a few little clean canteens for my baby to use a bottles for travel and as a sippy cup later.

Cannes film festival 2008 and the 48hfp June STL

The Cannes Film Festival has started and The trailer of the film I shot last spring is up. It is being projected but not in competition. The production company has a nice stand and big yacht for meetings. It was nice yesterday to visit and see the trailer. The images look good and the color correction and sound were well done also. It is a teaser and so you do not really understand the plot of the film deeply, but my concern is with the images as DP (chef operator).

or

CDM (the sound seems a bit messed up off my server)

The first weekend in June I am going to New York to work on shooting some more for my foundation and I am going to visit St. Louis for the 48 hour film project. We will do a short in 48 hours written, shot, edited, color corrected, scored and mixed in a weekend… Should be intense and fun. It will be good to get a new team together to do some dramatic work.

I am also working on developing a short in Paris on social health issues. It has some promise and I hope to shoot it at the end of this year or next spring. I am also in discussion for a french tv series – it is a police drama about ecological themes.

As usual I am writing a few things as well and hope to shoot those soon also. Work is advancing well. The foundation has a lot of big things in the pipeline, that I cannot talk about – but it is the jewel in scope of things. I hope to shoot a bunch of shorts to build up my reel so that people see that I am ready for my own projects and to be more able to do some commercial work. I hope that it will help the chance of a broader dramatic work in my foundation and that I will be able to work on deep important themes that will enrich peoples lives and help them. But I have to go through a lot to get there. Most people think I am doing to much in too diverse directions, but I think I want to do anything I can to advance my skills and to express myself more artistically and less as a technician. It is very hard – but I persevere.

Anne is 7 months pregnant now with my baby boy and there are a lot of preparations for the due date the 14th of august. I redid my salon (wood floors, paint, home theater) and the baby’s room is repainted and be stocked with stuff. I still need to get some baby clothes for before 6 months, but we are gathering a lot of peoples stuff. It is really beautiful to see how much people support one another with children.
let me know if you are in cannes – I would be happy to meet up. I will be in St. Tropez saturday (17) and sunday (18) also.
